Oregon MESA

STEM education nonprofit

An equitable STEM future starts here

Oregon MESA helps advance equity in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) by providing invention education opportunities to underserved and marginalized middle and high school students.

The Call

Our relationship with Oregon MESA began in 2014 with a full rebrand. The organization’s brand didn’t represent who they were, and their website was so outdated that they couldn’t manage their content. In order to advance their mission, the organization needed a website they could use, and a brand identity that told its story in a more dynamic, engaging way.

After several years of growing and evolving, Oregon MESA hired Roger That again in 2021 to update their brand and migrate their website to WordPress.

Our Response

For Oregon MESA’s initial rebrand, we interviewed the organization’s key stakeholders, including students and industry partners. These interviews helped us – and the Oregon MESA team – see the organization through the eyes of their most important audiences, so we could craft the brand to reflect that image.

In 2021, we were able to build on that foundational brand work to evolve Oregon MESA’s verbal expression with the goal of creating more concise and inspiring website content. This approach opened the door to bold, sometimes playful design that expresses key ideas through photographs, charts, iconography and animated statistics.
